Although the research is in its infancy, the findings underscore the potential of mucosal adjuvants as a modern solution to address disparities in vaccination access and safety, positioning them as a promising tool for future global health efforts. This review demonstrates that the route of administration critically influences mucosal adjuvant efficacy, underscoring the need for route-specific formulations and continued research into immune mechanisms for optimized vaccine development.
